Back in May Hyphen Magazine interviewed director Arvin Chen. Read all about this talented director so you’ll be up to date when you see our Opening Night film on October 7.

Like APA Film, Hyphen is produced by an all-volunteer staff. Hyphen is a magazine about Asian America for the culturally and politically savvy who want substantive and well-researched articles about complicated issues that affect Asian Americans.

You can win a t-shirt and more stuff on October 6!

Unlike other Asian American publications, Hyphen is more political and news oriented magazine, with stories about social justice issues and progressive politics. Hyphen also covers pop culture and the arts, but is more interested in underground independent artists over established ones. Hyphen was founded in 2003 by a group of Bay Area Asian American journalists, artists and activists.

On October 6, APA Film will be showing many of the best short films at the U.S. Navy Memorial Burke Theater in Washington D.C.’s Penn Quarter area. A number of the filmmakers will be flying in for the screening of their films. You can meet and talk to them after the screenings.

In addition to meeting the filmmakers, you’ll also have a chance to win cool merchandise.
