Film Fest DC opens April 16 with Japan’s Oscar winning film Departures
Departures is one of the many film offerings from Film Fest DC’s New Japanese Cinema! series, highlighting a culture of seemingly endless gentle beauty and social complexity.
The Opening Night Gala will take place on Thursday, April 16, 7:00 PM, at the Harman Center for the Arts, followed by a reception. Tickets are $45.00.

Tokyo! opens at Landmark’s E Street Cinema in D.C. on April 10. Tokyo! is a three-part film in which international directors Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep), Leos Carax (Pola X, Mauvais Sang), and Bong Joon-ho (The Host) each direct a segment.
The film was shot in the city of Tokyo, features a
predominantly Japanese cast, and offers some interesting perspectives on Japanese culture from three distinct visionary filmmakers.
