APA Film will be screening two of the finest features in our festival tonight.
We’re also raffling off Estee Lauder products, Giant Robot subscriptions and festival merchandise tonight!
First up is The Speed of Life.
Set in Brooklyn, New York, The Speed of Life centers around a sensitive and precocious 13-year-old boy, Sammer, and his group of juvenile delinquent friends. Sammer has the weight of the world on his shoulders, with a brother in jail, and a beloved foster mother losing her vision. Plagued by such worries, he is torn between his desire to leave and travel the world and his instinct to stay put and help the ones he loves. To do either of these things, though, he needs money. Stealing video recorders from tourists accomplishes this and has an added perk — he gets to see their world through the stolen
footage. — Sunbin Song
As an added bonus, director Ed Radtke will be in attendance. Catch this great feature on Friday, 6:30 p.m. at the U.S. Navy Memorial Burke Theatre.
Want to meet a movie actress? Nicole Bilderback will be in attendance for the screening of her film, The New Twenty. You may have seen Bilderback in films such as Bring It On, Clueless and Can’t Hardly Wait. She also has starred in shows such as Dawson’s Creek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The New Twenty follows the lives of five best friends in New York City and reflects on the rites of passage that 20s-going-on-30s face today. Friends since college, Andrew, Felix, Tony, Julie and Ben find their collective friendship changing as they navigate the thrills and challenges of their individual lives. — Kendrick Hang
