How to qualify: Films must be directed, produced, or principally acted by Asians or Asian Pacific Americans, even if the subject matter is not Asian. Non-Asian Pacific Americans may enter films if the subject matter is Asian Pacific American or Asian Diaspora related.

Preference is given to films produced in North America or in other Countries (outside Asia) with significant Asian Diaspora populations. Please contact Wyman Lee, Director or Programming, if you have any questions about the admissability of your film.

Your submission package is required to include the following:
  • A completed copy of this form for each entry
  • At least 1 copy of film in NTSC VHS, DVD or DVD-R, (DVD+R not acceptable). No PAL/SECAM formats accepted.
  • A Press Kit (Synoposis, Director's Bio, Director's Filmography, Cast and Crew list, etc)
  • Appropriate Entry Fee (see above)
  • Checks should be made payable to APA Film
  • Black and White and/or Color Stills from your film, preferably 300dpi images on CD or emailed to stills@apafilm.org with the title of the film and director in the subject line. Please provide captions for all stills.
  • Entry materials become part of the DC APA Film archive and will NOT be returned.

CERTIFICATION OF ENTRANT: I, the contact person for the film submitted with this application, agree to the following:
I have read, understood, and completed all eligibility requirements for which I would like this film to be considered.
  • To the best of my knowledge, all of the statements in this document are true.
  • This film is not subject to litigation nor is threatened by any litigation.
  • I am duly authorized to submit this film to the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival.
  • All right, licenses, clearances, and releases necessary for exhibition of this film to the public have been secured, so that exhibition of this film will not obligate Asian Pacific American Film, Inc. (APA Film) to make any payment to any third party and will not violate or infringe upon the rights of any individual, firm or corporation whatsoever.
  • APA Film may use excerpts from the film and stills for advertising and promotional purposes.
  • By virtue of submitting my work to APA Film for consideration for inclusion in their film festival, I also give APA Film permission to screen my work at their film festival without screening fees if my work is selected.
  • If selected for the festival, I agree to pay print shipping costs to APA Film. APA Film pays for return shipping.
  • I hold APA Film, Inc harmless from damage to or loss of this print en route or otherwise during the course of the Festival's possession of the film.
  • If selected for the festival, I agree that I will NOT exhibit my film in the Washington, DC metropolitan region during the months of September, October, or November 2006 at a screening outside of the DC APA Film Festival.
