Community Partner: Sulu DC

DC APA Film is proud to announce our newest community partner: Sulu DC!

Inspired by the Sulu Series in NYC, Sulu DC is an underground,  grassroots network for Asian American and Pacific Islander spoken word and multidisciplinary artists in Washington, D.C. The inaugural Sulu DC show was launched in November 2009 by Regie Cabico, Simone Jacobson, Jenny C. Lares, Brian Wang, and Alex Cena, and continues to grow each month in the breadth of performers and number of attendees.

Along with hosting monthly performances showcasing AAPI artists, Sulu DC fosters relationships with local and national activist organizations, nurtures the development of emerging AAPI artists and builds intergenerational alliances in preparations for the 2011 APIA Spoken Word & Poetry Summit in Twin Cities, MN.

Sulu DC show are on the 3rd Saturday of every month and have been held at Almaz and U St Music Hall. The next show is October 16th at their new location: ARTISPHERE, don’t miss it! Sign up for the  Sulu DC Listserv to stay connected.
