P.O.V. (Point of View) Youth Filmmaker Workshop
Now that school's out and summer's finally here, APA Film has decided there's no better time to reach out to area youth and launch a new pilot workshop that will put a camera in their hands, and a story in their minds.
The P.O.V. workshop--short for Point of View--is designed to empower and give voice to local Asian Pacific American youth by exposing them to the art of filmmaking, taught by some of the most creative and stellar leaders in the industry that are based in the DC area.
The workshops, to be held over a series of 6 weeks, will be led by Nguyen Nguyen, a film teacher at Georgetown Day School, Chris Tsou, a producer at Ventana Productions, and Mike Song, Manager of Digital Media at the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
Our organization's goal is to reach beyond the film festival and encourage and promote the artistic development of young APA artists. We also seek to provide arts education opportunities to APA youth. We hope this pilot program will help foster the emerging artistic voices in our community, especially those who hope for a career--or at least a lifetime hobby--in film.
