APA FILM ANNOUNCES ITS FINALISTS FOR THE ABC NEW TALENT DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP GRANT PROGRAM

Asian Pacific American Film, a DC-based nonprofit that promotes and supports Asian American films and media, has selected its finalists for the 2004 ABC New Talent Development Scholarship Grant Program. APA Film's two local finalists will now be forwarded to ABC, where they will compete against other regional finalists for a chance at $20,000, an ABC mentor, and the opportunity to take part in a 3-day workshop in Los Angeles at ABC Entertainment and Disney Studios.

APA Film's 2004 finalists are:
   - Georgia Lee, for her screenplay, "Red Doors"
   - Franklin Jin Rho, for his screenplay, "Homecoming"

APA Film, along with other participating organizations across the country, are collaborating with ABC to help diversify the creative arts community. The New Talent Development program is aimed at identifying individuals of diverse backgrounds who are in the early stages of their careers and who would show substantial growth with the receipt of a scholarship/grant. One of APA Film's 2002 finalists, Vivian Umino, was named one of the 16 national winners for her screenplay, "The Master Painter."
