October 9, 2003 APA FILM AND DEPARTMENT OF PERFORMING ARTS, AMERICAN UNIVERSITY PRESENT THE SUSIE IBARRA TRIO Asian Pacific American Film (APA Film), a DC-based nonprofit arts organization, and the Department of Performing Arts at American University, will present two performances from the Susie Ibarra Trio. Susie Ibarra is a percussionist and composer whose most recent original works include the chamber opera "Shangri-La". Her music draws from a variety of jazz, blues, and Filipino musical traditions. In addition to the Susie Ibarra Trio, she plays in several other music ensembles, including the Electric Kulintang project and the free-improv collective trio Mephista. The other two members of the trio include Jennifer Choi on violin and Craig Taborn on piano, keyboards, and electronics. The trio's performances will be preceded by local singer/songwriter Cynthia Lin. The concerts will be held at 8pm on Friday, October 24th, 2003 and 8pm on Saturday October 25, 2003 at the McDonald Recital Hall in the Kreeger Building on the campus of American University. Tickets are $16 for each show and available for purchase at the door only on the night of the performances. Any reservations not claimed and purchased 15 min. before showtime will be sold at the door. Parking for attendees will be free in front of the Kreeger Building after 5pm.
