APA FILM and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC PRESENT SPECIAL SCREENING OF MORNING SUN

Asian Pacific American Film (APA Film), a DC-based nonprofit organization that promotes and supports Asian American films and media, will co-sponsor with National Geographic a special one-night-only screening on September 24, 2003 of MORNING SUN. MORNING SUN is a feature-length documentary that explores the psychological impact and cultural intricacies of the Cultural Revolution through the eyes of the generation that was born around the time of the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.

MORNING SUN premiered at the 53rd Berlin International Film Festival and has subsequently appeared at numerous other festivals, including the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival and the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The screening will be held at the Grosvenor Auditorium of the National Geographic Society at 1145 17th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036. The screening will begin at 7pm, followed by a Q&A session with Director Carma Hinton.

Tickets are also available in person at the National Geographic ticket office at 1600 M Street NW in Washington, DC, from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Tickets are $13 to those who mention APA Film (phone or ticket office purchase only). Tickets are $13 for National Geographic members, $16 for nonmembers, $13 for seniors 64 and up, and $8 for children 12 and under.
