APA FILM ANNOUNCES MAY 16 LESLIE CHEUNG TRIBUTE SCREENING AND LECTURE

Asian Pacific American Film, a DC-based nonprofit that promotes and supports Asian American films and media, will be co-sponsoring a film tribute to recently departed Hong Kong actor and singer Leslie Cheung. The screening of the acclaimed Wong Kar-Wai film "Happy Together," which stars Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung, is being held in conjunction with Reel Affirmations, One-In-Ten, and Pride and Heritage: A Celebration of A/PI LGBT Communities.

APA Film is also sponsoring a related discussion of Leslie Cheung's work by renowned film academic Dr. Gina Marchetti of Ithaca College. Dr. Marchetti's lecture will include an appraisal of Cheung's impact on APA films and arts, and will feature clips from his other films.

Come join APA Film during APA Heritage Month as we celebrate the life and work of one of Asia's most popular actors, and one of the few to star in films with gay themes.
