After the end of the Korean War, over 10,000 Korean women married American G.I.ís and came to the United States, escaping the poverty of post-war Korea. AND THEREAFTER is an intimate portrait of one of these women, Young-Ja Wilke. For over 40 years, Young-Ja has lived with her husband in suburban New Jersey, raising three children to adulthood while tending to her gardens. However, as she recounts the events that have shaped her post-war life, it becomes readily apparent that her pursuit of the American dream rapidly became a 40-year nightmare. With unflinching candor, Young-Ja reveals years of emotions on camera as this documentary powerfully captures the resilience of the human spirit
