Gopal (Roshan Seth) finds himself suddenly on his own in his suburban
household after his wife leaves him to follow a guru in India and
his daughter takes off with her German boyfriend. Faced with the
depressing stillness of an empty home, Gopal turns to watching the
classic Indian Bollywood films of his youth and reading Cosmopolitan
magazines his daughter left behind for advice on how to navigate
the choppy waters of love and relationships. Gopal takes to heart
these classic and modern advice tips as he pursues his neighbor,
a free-spirited, eccentric divorcee. As their relationship deepens,
Gopal must confront the painful demons of his past as he explores
the possibilities awaiting him in the present and future. Cosmopolitan
is a lighthearted film that tugs on our modern heartstrings and
entertains with lively song and dance numbers a la Bollywood style.
